Epoxy Binder and Mortar System

This technical data sheet is for reference only.  Its new stock numbers are Product #24 (pigmented) and Product #28  (clear).

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Product #19 is a multi-function liquid applied, 100% solids epoxy binder and mortar system with excellent wear, and chemical resistance. Product #19 is an excellent general purpose material with excellent clarity and color retention. It is essentially odorless and so it can be used in occupied areas.

APPLICATIONS

Any place where a high strength, durable, mortar is required.

ADVANTAGES

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be clean and sound. Remove all dirt, laitance, grease curing compounds and other foreign matter by sandblasting, mechanical abrasion. If acid etching is used follow with abrasive or mechanical abrasion. Remove water and dust from all surfaces with an oil-free blast, or vacuum, immediately prior to application.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Temperature of Product #19 must be 60 degrees F or above at time of mixing. Stir each component separately before blending. Mix 4 (four) parts by volume of Part A with 1 (one) part by volume of Part B for three minutes with a low speed electric drill motor equipped with a mixing paddle.

APPLICATION

BASECOAT: Product #19 can be applied with brush, roller, airless sprayer, squeegee, trowel, etc. . Apply a coat of #19 to surface to be finished, doing only a small area at a time, applying special sands to the surface of the wet resin.   Make sure that the entire surface is completely covered (no shiny spots visible). Allow them to dry. Then remove excess sand. An alternate method is to make a "dry" mortar by adding special sand and troweling in place.

TOPCOAT:. Apply a squeegee, roll, or spray coating of clear #19 to the surface of the basecoat if required.. If a smoother finish is required, the surface may be sanded and additional coat(s) of clear #19 applied.

LIMITATIONS

New concrete should be at least 28 days old. Temperature of substrate must be above 50 degrees F. DO NOT thin. For outdoor use contact Epoxy.com for technical assistance.

OPTIONAL FEATURES

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause eye and skin irritation. If contact occurs, wash immediately and seek medical help. Use safety glasses with side shields and wear protective rubber gloves.

CLEANING

All tools and equipment should be cleaned before the system gels. Use MEK, Acetone, or any lacquer solvent.
