Epoxy.com Products #67 and #68

Decorative Colored Silica

All Epoxy.com Colored Aggregates use a pure silica sand as the basic mineral. Silica is an extremely hard abrasion resistant and chemically inert mineral, ideal for use in conditions that - at times - may be severe. Flooring surfaces produced with high density silica combined with Industrial Flooring Resins produced by Epoxy.com. consistently show greater resistance to wear than surfaces filled with minerals or many other resins or binders.

Appearance

A unique feature of Epoxy.com Products #67 and #68 is that each grain is highly translucent. Since the color is transmitted through the particle as well as reflected from the surface, flooring surfaces made with Epoxy.com Colored Sands can often be easily restored to nearly their original appearance after years of hard wear and abuse, with the application of a clear top-coating.

Density and Coverage Data

The density of Epoxy.com Colored Sands average about 90 lbs. per cubic foot. Of course, coverage varies depending on the thickness of the anticipated surface.

Here is an easy formula to use when calculating the weight of Epoxy.com Colored Sands needed to cover a given area.

(Square Footage to be covered) times (Thickness in inches, i.e. 1/4)x 7.5 = (lbs. of aggregate required)

Application

Epoxy.com Colored Sands are ideally suited to any established method of application; troweling, or broadcast. Traditionally rounded grain sand have been thought the best suited for broadcast applications. However, even though the broadcast line of Epoxy.com Colored Sands suggests this method of application, experienced applicators find they have no difficulty troweling this type of aggregate.

Similarly the trawled line of Epoxy.com Colored Sands are not limited to the trowel method of application. All three grades work well in all systems.

It is the combination of sizes and colors that the compounder will discover the excitement of achieving a wide variety of effects. For example, the finer grain broadcast sand may be used in combination with the coarser Trowel System sands to create the effect of a smooth velvety "field" color with the courser grains used as accent colors.
